Dr. Deborah McQueen
Elevating Voices Through Literacy, Music, and Leadership.
Welcome. I am Dr. Deborah McQueen—an educator, researcher, and writer dedicated to dismantling barriers to literacy and creative expression. My work bridges the gap between cognitive development, arts education, and systemic advocacy, focusing on early childhood development and transformative interventions within carceral institutions.
Areas of Impact
🏛️ Literacy & Justice Advocacy
Rooted in my doctoral research in Leadership, I design and advocate for specialized literacy interventions tailored for incarcerated populations, directly addressing the critical intersection of learning differences and the justice system.
🎹 Inclusive Music Pedagogy
As a classically trained music educator holding both a BA and MA in Music, I leverage the cognitive and expressive power of music to build adaptive, engaging learning environments. My approach integrates visual-motor integration and fine motor development to support diverse learning needs.
📚 Interdisciplinary Scholarship
Integrating a background in Judeo-Christian Studies with educational leadership, I write and speak on how systemic education can become more inclusive, compassionate, and effective for vulnerable populations.
